October 7 - parent update and reminders
Parents,
We hope you have a restful and rewarding long weekend with your families. Throughout the month of October, students and staff are working on the virtue of respect: respecting self, our place, and others. We are supporting this learning through daily student-led announcements, school assemblies which we have now started, and common language that we use throughout the school. We have challenged our students to “catch respect” when they see it, hear, it, and feel it in and around our building. Perhaps you have this same challenge at home too!
Please see important information below, prior to next week:
REMINDERS:
1. If your child is going to be absent, we require you to contact us. The Safe Arrival Program is in place to help assure the safety of our students. If your child is going to be late or absent from school please call our Safe Arrival line at 250-656-1222 or e-mail the school:
deepcove_attendance@saanichschools.ca
2. Picture Day is coming up! Mark your calendars: This coming Wednesday, October 12.
3. Please be respectful of our neighbours’ driveways by not blocking them. Please always use the crosswalks to get across the road to and from school.
4. If you plan on volunteering with your child’s class, the district requires a criminal record check, through the link below. There is no charge for this. The process can take considerable time. We recommended that you complete your application early in the school year, if possible.:

Again, have a great weekend with your families. With appreciation,
